What We Do

The trust works to promote eye research in Cambridge.

1) The Cambridge Eye Trust guarantees support for the University of Cambridge's first professor of Ophthalmology, Professor Keith Martin.

2) We host the annual residential Cambridge Ophthalmological Symposium for experts in basic and clinical ophthalmic science.

3) We are establishing multiple contacts and co-operations with the University's internationally renouned basic research departments on campus to translate these discoveries into treatments for patients afflicted with eye disease. View our partner organisations.

4) We aim to educate the public about eye disease by organizing patient support groups and by investing in TV screens in the clinics where videos and other material can be shown about the various problems which affect the eye and how they are treated.

In addition to organising the Cambridge Ophthalmological Symposium we also host educational days for medical students, patients, and doctors applying for prospective ophthalmological training.

We also help patients whose sight is threatened by supporting basic and clinical research at Addenbrooke's Hospital and related university departments.

The web-pages on this site explain how we aim to help our patients and how you can be involved.
